How to paste a Minecraft schematic or load a world download

Updated

To paste a schematic, put the .schem file in plugins/WorldEdit/schematics on your server, run //schem load <name> in game, stand where the build should go and run //paste. World downloads go in your saves folder instead.

Steps

  1. Install WorldEdit or FastAsyncWorldEdit

Add WorldEdit or FastAsyncWorldEdit (faster for big builds) to your server's plugins folder and restart.

  2. Add the schematic

Put the .schem or .schematic file in plugins/WorldEdit/schematics (or plugins/FastAsyncWorldEdit/schematics).

  3. Load it

In game, run //schem list to see the file, then //schem load <name>.

  4. Paste it

Stand where you want the build and run //paste. Add -a to skip air blocks. Use //undo if it lands in the wrong place.

Tips

  • World downloads: unzip into .minecraft/saves for single player, or replace your server's world folder while the server is stopped.
  • Litematica files (.litematic) go in .minecraft/schematics and are placed with the Litematica client mod.

Frequently asked questions

Which direction will the build face?

It pastes relative to where you stood when it was saved. Rotate it first with //rotate 90 after loading if needed.

Can I paste a schematic in single player?

Yes, with the WorldEdit mod for Fabric or Forge, or with Litematica in creative mode.
